Torpedo-shaped, the yellow fin tuna is a member of the mackerel family traveling in schools in the deeper offshore areas of the gulf. Yellowfin tuna can weigh up to 400 pounds but average weights are smaller. In Florida Tuna are harvested with hook-and-line.

The cooked meat is an off-white and firm. Yellowfin is mild and flavorful.
